While sauron wasnt there for the forging of the elven rings, he did handle the mythril that went into them as well as helped design them. That is why Elrond was so wary of them. But for the 7, Sauron literally dropped it in at the final step. I was genuinely in awe of Sauron using the letter to not just deflect any suspicion off himself and the dwarven rings but to get Celebrimbor to recommit to the process! wow! Dunno if anyone has mentioned this before in the comments so apologies if this is repetitive info to you, but the reason everyone is weird about galadriel's hair is because it trapped some of the light of those glowing trees on Valinor, and in fact it inspired the Silmarils, the artificats that caused the last great war, against Morgoth (who was basically a god, while Sauron is more a fallen angel). So saying someone has hair like hers is just an insane compliment. Also why that orc wants some! Sauron is such a walking red flag! Galadriel also missed it all last season! Love that arc so much for so many reasons. Part of the Numenor plot line of "tradition is good, change is bad" rubs me the wrong way but Tolkien really painted that stark picture of Numenor and they seem to be making the best of it. Thorin and co wanted to get the misty mountain back. They in part ended up at the Misty Mountain originally because they lost Kazad-dum. So you are correct!

I was so afraid that Amaya, Janai, or Aanya would die this episode, and was so relieved when I saw they were all okay. Then I saw where Sol Regeam was going, and became afraid again. Also Janai’ and Amaya don’t know that Pharos is being manipulated by Aaravos. So whatever Sol Regeam does next episode, they’re going to think it was part of Karim’s plan.

I do wonder that Galadriel will tell Adar about Sauron since she probably doesn't want to actually tell him about the rings! So, uhat can she say uithout letting that slip... I also said the both things could be true thing about uhat Elrond said! AAAHHH! (I love them both. Its so frustrating but also entertaining...) But I think Elrond does want to help people and stay and fight, but he does think Sauron's role in their creation irreparably corrupted them... Which is a good position to take, be skeptical! But he is getting a bit annoying about it. The Poppy and Nori storyline isn't going the uay I expected! (this is a good thing, I like what they are doing). That said, poor Nori/Poppy shippers... Alas.

The idea that "Elrond forgot that Galadriel was supposed to be his friend" also goes both ways... If you can see how Elrond's attitude is hurting Galadriel you can also see how Galadriel's actions, lies and lack of trust (yes, she did not trust him with pivotal information) also hurts Elrond and forms his opinion of Galadriel right now... He is so certain that Galadriel is compromised because she has been acting in ways and doing things that are uncharacteristic of her to some extent... He sees a change in her... And how can we really say that Elrond is wrong for thinking that there is a connection between the rings and Sauron, AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, between Galadriel and Sauron, when we see almost twice an episode how Galadriel drift away and "connects" in one way or another with Sauron, his plans and in any way shape or form... The reality is that most of the abrasiveness that Galadriel is receiving now, whether we like it or not, is a result of her being way to abrasive herself TO EVERYONE in the first season... And her actions DO MAKE HER somewhat responsible for the things happening and for setting up Sauron to succeed... She facilitated Sauron getting "all the way into the kitchen" of both Numenor AND Eregion and set him up on the path of the idea of the rings... The rings weren't Sauron's original plan, he formed that plan once he got to Eregion and saw the idea about the forge and stuff... And what Elrond said about Galadriel being blinded by pride and how that helped her believe everything Sauron told her is true... She is suppose to be able to be more perceptive of other beings, that's literally one of her (canon) things; other characters are faaaaarrr more perceptive and don't trust Sauron, like for example recently, Durin the son... The reason why she ate it with a spoon is because of her own blindness caused by her thirst for revenge... So yeah, Elrond is being harsh, but 1) he has good reasons for believing what he beliefs, and 2) Galadriel kindof needs to be taken down a notch for her character to grow; there are so many character flaws that were present on her season 1 arc that she needs the humility hit... or do we not remember her talking down at every numenorian, including the queen, or her own men at the beginning of the show or pretty much everyone she encounter (not to mention the genocidal words when she threaten Adar)

2:30 Kpp’ar is kind of like the opposite of Palpatine from Star Wars. Palpatine pushed anakin into using the dark side of the force to save his wife. Kpp’ar is actively trying to push Callum away from using dark magic, even at the potential cost of Soren’s life.

I really love Viren’s decision to burn the letter to Soren. I think he realized in that moment that his desire to confess was ultimately coming from a more selfish desire to relieve himself of his own guilt. Giving Soren that letter would only give him more pain and guilt that he doesn’t need. Especially if he found out what Viren did to his mom. And really, everything Soren needed to hear was said in the last episode. “What happened to you was never your fault. You did not deserve the cruel treatment I gave you”. So by burning the letter, Viren is finally putting Soren’s needs and feelings before his own desires.

For Viren, we see in his 5x02 / 5x03 dreams that young dark mage him didn't have the beard, so he was definitely a dark mage (under Kpp'Ar's tutelage) for a while before becoming High Mage. He was always drawn to that line of thinking / way of magic, but the desire to help Soren ("And I became... desperate") pushed him over the edge into doing truly terrible things + constantly weighing people's lives against each other in bad ways. Him receiving acceptance from dream!Harrow ("And you know I would do anything for my family, however dangerous however vile." "I know") was I think what he'd wanted from Kpp'Ar and Lissa, but didn't receive, and ultimately realizes that he shouldn't receive it (hence burning the letter) even if he 'could'. I do get why Lissa left because she gave the children the choice to choose between parents (since she'd had her choice violated) and Soren chose Dad. It's complicated and messy, but I get why she just left rather than say press charges because... he violated her BUT he did save Soren; what is she supposed to do in wrestling with all that baggage and emotions? I also think that's the biggest difference between him and Callum, because Callum loves unconditionally (Rayla's "Am I supposed to thank you" and his assertion "No, that's not what I..." and letting her go after Viren in s4 vs Claudia scream-sobbing "I saved you! You owe me your life" or Viren being willing to sacrifice Soren in s3). There's a few levels as to why I think they went with Rayla being Callum's One Truth that all kind of nicely stack on each other. She's associated with light pretty consistently in framing (early s2 when finding out about Harrow, her showing up haloed in light when Callum is investigating the mirror in early s4, some others even just in this episode - taking his shoulder and turning him directly into the light of the sun, etc). I know going in I thought maybe magic would be his truth, but that'd a bit hard to visually conceptualize/portray, and he only became a mage because of her ("but then you called me a mage, and that felt right"). Rayla is what led him into darkness as well (doing dark magic to protect her in s2 and s5) so her 'guiding' him out of it shows that her love can save him as much as it may destroy him (which is very Moonshadow-y of her to be truth And lies, light And dark, etc). She's also been in opposition to Aaravos specifically for Callum's fate for a few seasons now ("What if I'm on a path of darkness?" "Then take a different path, dummy!"; the light to Aaravos' darkness; always reaffirming that Callum has agency; she's hunting Viren in S4 while Aaravos is preying on Callum, so they're both going after each other's mages but for different reasons; etc) so that being made like, Text, felt right after being subtext for a while - at least for me

9:27 I think that Callum connected to the Moon Primal Magic while letting his soul be cleansed. Hopefully next season Callum will connect to the other primal magics in his and Rayla’s fight against Claudia.

I am so happy with how that handled Viren and Soren’s reunion in this episode. It was literally everything I wanted since season 4. Viren finally telling Soren that he’s proud of the strong and kind man Soren has become, but Soren cannot accept it. Not after everything Viren has done to him, his friends, and the rest of the world. And I loved how Viren accepted that Soren will never forgive him, and that he doesn’t deserve to be in his son’s life anymore after the way he treated him. All he wants is for Soren to know that what happened was never his fault so he can move on. Soren and Viren’s voice actors gave incredible performances here. I don’t think we give enough praise to the vocal performances of this show. You can just feel the emotion through the screen when you’re watching this.

The Brownyn actress decided to leave acting to instead spend her efforts on advocacy for the rights of Iranian women. So ya, writers were stuck in a tough position on this one. Adar actor also left but he was recast

It is so frustrating and tragic (in a good way) seeing the fall of celemrimbor. Also, tbh, Elrond and Galadriel's messy friendship/siblinghood is my favorite relationship in this show.

What a great episode! Such great drama, battle, character scenes, and then just the painful gut punch that they accomplished nothing! They lost! Its so great. Also Galadrial getting called out for her single mindedness and blind hatred. SO GOOD! Was the episode when I realized this show could be truly great!

Love to see some character development from Galadrial!!! And the scene where the leaves fall and the Queen's speech? So good!

Sauron does not own an army himself. He rather scampers his enemy's army to to his work. Sauron went to Adar, disguised as repentent "King of the Southlands" to tell him about an "alliance between Galadriel and the ancient sorcerer Sauron" (which is kind of true), in order to agitate Adar's orc-army against Eregion. Adar will attack Eregion, as we have seen in the trailers. Not because Adar does have beef with the elves himself. But rather because he thinks, Sauron hides among them (kind of true again). The elves will fight the orcs. Because they associate them with Sauron. Sauron does not have to fight. He acts merely as a chess player, who rallies armies against each other.

Seems that I have not actually seen your reaction for this show, so lets fix that now!!!

I have to say that I don't think they are doing Elrond and Gil-galad particularly well. The stranger guy has to be Gandalf since he's hanging around with Hobbits. It would be a brilliant twist if he ends up being someone else.

Everything about this show is abysmal.
